Butte College's Accreditation Reaffirmed

At its June meeting, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) reaffirmed the accreditation for Butte College based on a comprehensive site visit in March. For more information, please visit the Butte College Accreditation web page.

"We're very happy that Butte College's accreditation has been reaffirmed. This result reflects the hard work and competence of our faculty, staff, and students and the college's ongoing commitment to student learning and student achievement," said Dr. Kimberly Perry, Butte College president.

As part of the process the college received three recommendations that it must address. It will be required to submit a follow-up report to the commission in October 2016 and will later receive a visit to validate that the recommendations have been implemented.

Les Jauron, the college's Accreditation Liaison Officer, offered his perspective of the commission's action. "This is a great result. That said, we still have some work to do to improve our documentation and refine our services to meet the commission's recommendations," said Jauron. "Recently, I was at the State Capitol when Butte College was one of six community colleges in the state to receive an Innovation in Higher Education award. This award, and the reaffirmation of the college's accreditation, reflect Butte College's commitment to innovation and institutional effectiveness. The faculty and staff at Butte College are already working hard to implement the commission's recommendations and the college will be even better as a result."
